Frequently Asked Questions

What is Inspiring Potential Services?

Inspiring Potential Services Inc. is a community-based organization that provides person-centred supports grounded in behavioural understanding, sensory awareness, and accessible communication. We support individuals and families by creating environments where people feel safe, understood, and respected.

Who do you support?

We primarily support:

  • Adults aged 18 and up with diverse support needs

  • Individuals with behavioural, sensory, communication, physical, or complex needs

  • Families and caregivers seeking thoughtful, respectful support

On a case-by-case basis, we may also offer:

  • Non-medical day respite for seniors to support caregivers

  • Real-life skill-building opportunities for youth aged 12–18 when there is sufficient interest and appropriate fit

Do you only support individuals with autism?

No. While our team has extensive experience supporting individuals across all levels of autism, we also work with people with a wide range of needs, including intellectual and developmental disabilities, sensory processing differences, communication challenges, physical support needs, and complex behavioural profiles.

We focus on the person, not the label.

Do you offer personal care and physical support?

Yes. Our team has experience providing personal care, physical assistance, mobility support, and day-to-day supervision as needed. All support is provided with care, discretion, and respect for dignity, and in close collaboration with families.

Can your staff administer medication?

Yes, medication administration can be supported as needed, in accordance with appropriate protocols and family guidance. This is discussed during intake to ensure clarity, safety, and fit.

What does “behavioural understanding” mean?

Behavioural understanding means we view behaviour as meaningful communication rather than something to be controlled or corrected. We take time to understand what a person may be expressing through their behaviour and adjust supports, environments, and expectations accordingly.

What does sensory-aware support look like?

Sensory-aware support means recognizing how noise, lighting, movement, textures, routines, and environments affect regulation and participation. We adapt supports to reduce overwhelm and help individuals feel more comfortable and engaged.

Do you support communication beyond speech?

Yes. We respect and support all forms of communication, including non-speaking, minimal speaking, and alternative communication. Communication access is approached thoughtfully and ethically, with respect for each individual’s autonomy and readiness.

Do you provide Spelling to Communicate (S2C)?

Communication-related services are offered as part of our professional services, separate from day programming. IPS leadership is engaged in ongoing professional learning through the International Association for Spelling as Communication (I-ASC). Communication supports are discussed individually to ensure appropriate fit, readiness, and ethical practice.

How do I know if IPS is the right fit?

The best way to know is to start with a conversation. We take time to learn about the individual, answer questions honestly, and discuss whether our supports align with your needs. Not every service is right for every person, and we value transparency.

Do you offer transportation?

Transportation options may be available, depending on location and individual needs. This can be discussed during inquiry.

How do I get started?

You can contact us by phone or email to begin a conversation. There is no pressure or obligation — just an opportunity to discuss and explore next steps.
